Árni was appointed Managing Director of Air Iceland in March 2005. He previously worked as Director of Sales and Marketing at Air Iceland, Managing Director at Ferdaskrifstofa Íslands / ITB, Managing Director of Iceland Travel and as Director of Icelandair Holidays. He worked for the German Tour Operator FTI in Münich as Director of Risk Management in 1993-1997. Árni holds a M.Sc. in Economics from Augsburg University, Germany. Árni is Chairman of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association since 2008.
Birkir Hólm Guðnason was appointed CEO of Icelandair in May 2008. Birkir has been with Icelandair since year 2000. Birkir started with Icelandair in 2000, first as Sales Manager in Iceland 2000-2002, then as Sales & Marketing Manager in North America 2002-2005, then as General Manager for Central Europe, situated in Frankfurt 2005-2006 and from 2006- 2008 as General Manager for Scandinavia, situated in Copenhagen. Birkir studied in Aalborg Denmark 1995-2000 and holds an Bsc degree in Business Economics and MBA degree in International Business Economics from Aalborg University. He has since then worked for Icelandair.
Guðni was appointed Managing Director of Loftleiðir Icelandic in July 2006. Guðni joined Icelandair Group in 1997 as a marketing representative in Sales Control and from 2000-2003 he worked at The Icelandic Web Agency. In 2003 Guðni was appointed Director of Marketing at Loftleidir Icelandic. Guðni holds a Bachelors degree in Humanistic Informatics & Communication from Aalborg University, Denmark.
Gunnar Már was appointed Managing Director of Icelandair Cargo in May 2008. Before that time he was SVP of Sales and Marketing at Icelandair since 2005. Gunnar Már started at Icelandair Domestic in Vestmannaeyjar in 1986 and in 1994 he became Sales and Marketing Manager for Air Iceland. In 1997 he became Sales Manager for Icelandair in Germany, based in Frankfurt. Gunnar Már became Director of Sales Planning and Control in 2000 and in 2001 he became General Manager of the Germany, Netherlands & Central Europe regions. Gunnar Már has a degree in Business from the University of Iceland.
Gunnar was appointed Managing Director when an independent company was formed around Icelandair's ground services in Keflavík in 2001. He has held various managerial positions within Icelandair Group in Iceland and abroad.
Hörður Gunnarsson was appointed Managing Director of Iceland Travel in January 2012 and of VITA in April 2013, but he has been working for subsidiaries of Icelandair Group for over 20 years. He first joined in 1990 as a Managing Director of Úrval Útsyn (later Ferdaskrifstofa Islands), an tour operator owned by the Group and held that position until 2006. From the year 2008 he was the chairman of the board of Iceland Travel, with the main task to build up the brand VITA, which since January 2012 is a independent subsidiary of Icelandair Group.
Magnea was appointed Managing Director in July 2005 but joined Icelandair Hotels in 1994. Magnea has worked in the hotel industry since 1991 and held management positions within hotels in Iceland, Switzerland and Japan. She received her MBA from the University of Surrey UK in 2003.
Magnús has been the Managing Director of Fjárvakur - Icelandair Shared Services since its incorporation in the year end 2002. He joined Icelandair Group in 1998 and previously he was Director of Icelandair Group's accounting department. Magnús received his Cand.Oceon from the University of Iceland in 1993 and became certified public accountant in 1999.
